Hello! I'm Jorge, your local guide to Playa del Carmen. I have called this vibrant city home for 20 years. Like many others, I moved here seeking better opportunities. I've been fortunate to find them in this renowned tourist destination filled with possibilities.

During the pandemic, the tourism industry took a brutal hit, and it was during that time that a friend of my brother, who is British, entered my life. Will was dedicated to digital marketing, and in those tough days of the pandemic, we had to do whatever it took to survive.

Will had money and was busy, so he constantly offered us cash in exchange for errands and other tasks. At that time, he was making more money than ever while everyone in the hotel industry was suffering the effects of the pandemic.

I wondered how Will made so much money during the worst historical crisis. That's when I discovered he was involved in digital marketing, and little by little, I began to immerse myself in his world.

Alongside running errands, I started taking on small digital marketing jobs—initially tedious tasks I didn't want to do. Still, over time, I got more involved in his operations. This is how I discovered my passion for digital marketing, which perfectly combines with my experience in the tourism industry.

I began to certify myself through Google and HubSpot. Before I knew it, I had transformed into a digital marketer.

I currently work at a hotel reception, where I use my free time and the internet to carry out my digital marketing projects, including my own initiative, Choose Playa del Carmen.

Throughout my journey, I've worn many hats—from selling lamps and waiting tables to working as a hotel receptionist and manager. I even ran a laundry business and managed several apartment units. 

Looking back on my experiences, I strongly desire to share my unique perspective through this website. With years of customer service and a deep understanding of visitors' needs, I'm here to make your trip enjoyable and authentic.

Over the years, I've answered countless questions like, "Where's the best place for dinner?" "How do I catch the ferry to Cozumel?" and "Is it safe to walk around at night?" So, why not share all this knowledge with you—and turn my passion into a livelihood?
