Right from the start, the reception staff was amiable. Unlike in many gyms where reception staff often have a bad attitude, it was the opposite. Diego was accommodating and offered me a free tour of the facilities.

On the other hand, the gym is the most expensive, with a fee of 1,600 pesos for the first month, followed by monthly payments of 1,300 pesos.

However, The Gym Playa del Carmen offers a wide variety of classes in the membership, such as yoga, martial arts, functional training, boot camp, etc. These are vital aspects to consider when evaluating the membership price.

Locker System and Equipment

One great advantage of this gym in Playa del Carmen is that you don't need to bring your own padlock; the lockers have a daily updated password system, which I found very convenient.

The lockers are in the spotless restrooms, but please note that this gym does not offer a sauna.

Let's delve into the weight equipment: it's all brand new and gleaming. We're talking about machines from the top brands of the latest generation, ensuring a high-quality workout experience.

The air conditioning is icy, which is welcomed in this hot climate, especially during workouts. The place is not just spacious; it's expansive. I loved the decor, which included large images of Arnold Schwarzenegger on the walls.

Having the seven-time Mr. Olympia watching over me on the walls is a source of motivation and inspiration.

At the end of the gym, there's an area with kettlebells and plenty of space for exercises like burpees or jump rope.

Not Ideal for Cardio Fans: No Protein Bar Available

One thing to note: you might have better options if you're a cardio enthusiast. During my visit, they didn't have any cardio machines.

I enjoy doing cardio on the treadmill and stationary bike at the end of my workout sessions, so the fact that they don't have any cardio equipment is a significant factor to consider if you're considering joining this gym.

This gym is for bodybuilding enthusiasts who come to give their all with the weights and machines. However, not having cardio machines is a big disappointment.

Additionally, there is no protein smoothie or supplement bar, which is a drawback compared to other gyms in Playa del Carmen.

Additionally, the gym offers parking at Quinta Alegría Shopping Mall, which costs $20 pesos per hour and is located on the side of the shopping center, between Constituyentes and 10th Avenue.

This is more advantageous than other gyms in the area such as Evolve or The Gym, where the only option is to park on the street and pay a parking meter.

However, it is difficult to find a spot as they are in a tourist area and always crowded. Therefore, having the option of parking at Quinta Alegría Shopping Mall makes World Gym very convenient.

What are the Opening and Closing Times?

For example, Evolve on Quinta Avenida, another popular gym, opens from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m., and The Gym, one of the most well-known gyms, closes at 10 p.m.

We’ve all had busy days when an hour of training or not training can make a big difference in our mood. Squeezing in those 45 minutes of weight training can be crucial, so the fact that they stay open until midnight is much appreciated.

The hours from 5 am to 12 am are also very convenient. However, the lack of cardio equipment is an essential factor to consider. On the other hand, the convenient parking available is a significant advantage.
